Vegetarian Recipes l Lentil Walnut Veggie Burgers
How to make Lentil Walnut Veggie Burgers Video. Veggie Burgers are a nutritional alternative to beef burgers. Many people don’t think of making their own veggie burgers but they are really easy to make at home. Store bought veggie burgers are nutritional but often very high in sodium and preservatives. You can substitute the eggs in this recipe with “flax eggs” which are a mix of 6 tbsp ground flax to 2 tbsp boiling water. The milk in this recipe can be substituted with either soya milk or rice milk. This make the recipe completely vegan!
Lentils are high in fiber which makes them a good protector against bowel cancer. They are an excellent source of protein and are an important source of B vitamins, especially B3, which is essential for both a healthy nervous system and digestive system. They are high in iron, zinc and calcium and are a good replacement for red meat. Like meat, the iron in lentils is better absorbed when they are eaten with a good source of vitamin C like leafy green vegetables.
Walnuts are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, a special type of fat that is essential for our bodies, but that the body cannot produce. Walnuts are also a very good source of monounsaturated fats.
Walnuts contain many powerful antioxidants, including ellagic and gallic acids, pus antioxidant phenols and vitamin E. The minerals copper and manganese are also found in abundance in these tasty nuts.

yum yum…i’m no vegetarian but this looks good to me!

I’ve been a …
I’ve been a vegetarian for 7 years, and I’m much healthier now. You are right, you do need some dietary supplements, but it’s not as bad as you’d think. I eat peanut butter or soy products, so I don’t have to buy any fancy vitamins or anything. Also, everyone else in my family has cholesterol problems, but I don’t at all. Some people think it weakens your immune system, but that’s not true. I very rarely get sick, but when I do, my body is always able to fight it off quickly.

Rickets is cause by …
Rickets is cause by lack of sunlight…not a vegan diet. The biggest inhibitor of calcium is too much protein. It binds to excess amino acids and goes out in you urine. to top it off when the calcium that you consume is out, your bloods PH is effected and your body compensates by removing the calcium from your bones, teeth, etc. this is the main cause of osteoporosis. Please look up Protease inhibitors, Phytoestrogens and Phytic acid in science journals not “truth about soy” websites.

But I think that lack of food is by no means a sanitary problem, I would rather call it a worldwide case of injustice. Food consumption becomes a health issue when there is enough for the majority to eat daily. By the way, when they look at life-expentacies, they never look at the starving, they look at the wealthy. Health is an issue when life is granted. Sheer survival is deadlyer than meat burgers.

That’s a jolly good …
That’s a jolly good point! To me this “burger” is rather a lentil and walnut special pancake which looks yummy. I think that this health-food-ersatz culture is a revelation of the longing that many neo-cons of vegetarianim experience for real burgers.
I am myself a vegetarian from time to time, but then I eat onion omelette sanwiches I never lure myself that this kind of pancake is burger. Burgers which are not made of meat aren’t burgers.
Just a matter of names.

They eat less …
They eat less saturated fats, they have a quiet lifestyle and they low-calory but satiating dishes because they eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as plenty of cereals which are rich in fibers and slow sugars. They eat milk and eggs and therefore they have just enough proteins and saturated fats to keep going ok.

I have to say I’m …
I have to say I’m omnivore but this recipe doesn’t look low in protein. It contains, milk and egg which are very rich in protein. It is in fact an ovo-lacto-vegetarian. I think that you’re mistaken just in terminology, what may be nutritionally problematic (particularly for children that DO need to eat great amounts of protein to build up their muscles and bones) is veganism. Nonetheless, soy and kinoa can replace meat in the case of adults because they’re grown up, i.e. veganism is healthy too.

That is exactly …
That is exactly their problem too much carbs and too much dairy (milk in not a human food, it is a cow’s food)…check out the Okinawan diet they live the longest of any people in the world and they eat no meat, dairy or eggs and eat the most soy in the world.

Wow…this is a …
Wow…this is a very ignorant posting. What are the health problems you speak of. The only one one am aware of is anemia caused by lack of iron because they are not putting legumes or greens in their diet. Please post other health problems that i am not aware of please.

I’m a Meatatarian. …
I’m a Meatatarian. LOL J/K The Irony behind being a vegetarian is that most people think its healthy but actually it causes health problems which is why most of them have to take dietary supplements and pregnancy comes with many complications because the baby will not get the needed nutrients. I’m not sayin you should eat McDonalds everyday but Vegetarianism isn’t really gonna help either.

Great recipe, I …
Great recipe, I will try it in the coming period I think.
Southern Indians have among the highest life expectancies in South Asia, as you can see from any official statistics from the Indian government. How it’s related to their largely vegetarian diet I don’t know, but it is a fact.

Hi Rosha267,
Yes …
Hi Rosha267,
Yes you can use egg whites – use 3. Someone else suggested pine nuts instead of walnuts but you could leave the nut part out entirely … I have made them with mushrooms instead of nuts.

I’m not a …
I’m not a vegetarian, but I would eat that burger. It looks a of a lot better than those tofu burgers I’ve eaten! But I would still prefer a real burger because, as Denis Leary says “Meat tastes like murder…and murder tastes pretty good!”

I can make that in 2 minutes. buy frozen box for at Walmart…Nice video. thanks a lot!!!

And the largely …
And the largely vegetarian Hindus of southern India have the shortest life-spans in the world, partly because of a lack of food, but also because of a distinct lack of animal protein in their diets. Most Hindus do include butter and milk in their diets.

The Mormons r often …
The Mormons r often overlooked in vegetarian studies. Although they urge moderation, Mormons do eat meat. Mormons also avoid tobacco, alcohol & caffeine. Despite being meat eaters, a study of Utah Mormons showed they had a 22% lower rate for cancer in general and a 34% lower mortality for colon cancer than the US average.
People can dream up whatever religious guidelines they desire, but in terms of living in the real world–working and raising children, a vegan-style diet is not practical.

fuzzy, you are …
fuzzy, you are simply misinformed or taking thing out of context.
Seventh Day Adventists are often studied in population analyses to prove that a vegetarian diet is healthier and is associated with a lower risk for cancer. While it is true that most members of this Christian denomination do not eat meat, they also do not smoke or drink alcohol, coffee or tea, all of which are likely factors in promoting cancer.

> fuzzywuz, I’m …

> knowledge that you profess (complete
> protein, B-12 etc.) You can know all of

There are entire cultures that are vegetarian. Southern Indians barely eat any meat. Jains won’t even kill plants. There are groups of Buddhists and the 7th Day Adventists that don’t eat meat.
MAYBE you should have checked to see what they eat?

Some really good info here thanks. I like many other people have been trying for longer than I care to remember to loose weight. The Doctor keeps telling me to do something about and (and give up smoking) and although I do try, I just can’t stick to it. My girlfriend is trying the new Fat Burning Furnace diet which she reckons is working really well and she has lost 5lbs in only a week – has anyone around here tried it and has it worked for you?

Vitamin B12 has been proven to reduce the risk of both heart attacks and stroke. There are many reasons besides this, though, why B12 is such an important vitamin to include in your daily diet regimen to help maintain overall good health, vitamin plays an important rols in our daily life.
