what are some ways to lose weight off of my legs?

besides running. im realy self-consious about them, and i wont wear shorts. whats a way to lose just a little weight off of them in a few weeks? i run in place (cuz its too hot to run outside and our tredmill is at my moms work) and i do squats…..is there anything else i can do? i want to lose it around the start of school. it starts on august 22, like a few weeks after school starts. i know its impossible to lose it before school starts…..but in a few weeks??? any suggestions?
i meant about 5 weeks. a few weeks after school starts

well lets face the ugly truth. There really is no such thing as spot reduction. Anyone who advises you otherwise is just a plain idiot. Fat loss comes from many different parts of the body and the areas that are last to go are usually the most obvious and biggest problem areas.

But not to freat…its not like there is nothing you can do about it. If not spot reduction, then at least spot toning. I have a couple of suggestion you may find useful.

1) A few weeks you say. How many is that. I am guessing about 2 weeks since you mentioned 22 aug. The earlier person who answered you was right. 2 weeks may be too short to see any visible results. But hey, that does not mean you give up now and forever dwell in self pity. At least start now and in a couple of months you will see the results.

2) There are a couple of exercises you can do for fat loss. Remember just 2 things about excercise for fat loss. One is the intensity it is done with and two is the time it is done for. By intensity i mean how hard you are working your body. I not not sure if running on the spot provides that intensity. I recommend that you try things like, skipping rope, doing burpees, stationary cycling, stairclimbing….inshort be creative. Given that it is hot outside, take the initiative and wake up early before it gets too hot or do it in the evening when it is cooler. The sun should not be an excuse.

The best intensity is high intensity…exercise done with short bursts of energy like sprinting with little rest in between…this intensity revs up your metobolism better then the old school thought of low intensity but longer duration for fat loss. Also high intensity means you will need more energy with lesser time taken to complete your exercise.

But like all excercise, patience is the key. Build yourself up and constantly challenge yourself to outdo yourself.

3) include some strength exercises as well. If you are running, that itself builds muscles but to improve your running, strengthening your core muscles will help. Lunges and squats are great leg exercises.

4) Also diet plays as major a role as excersice. Cut down on your fat and carbs in your diet, I said cut down and not eliminate…you still need some for your body to function. increase your protein as well.

SO to round it all up….you need to be patient, consistent and determined. Rome was not built in a day and so will your body not take a few days to change but change it will eventually. Good luck

I dont think there is any way in a few weeks… a few months yes. To get there in a few weeks you'd need to basicly stop eating and have one meal a day. But dont do that obviously…. Just run, do some leg excercises. And watch what you eat, anything thats unheatlhy may go to your thighs as the saying goes ;)

personally i do squats, they're the best.
put your feet about shoulder length apart [but the further the better!] and squat down as far as possible.
also, try climbing stairs a lot. once you get bored with one stair at a time go to two/three stairs at a time. once you get bored with that jump from stair to stair and increase the number of stairs you jump.
these exercises focus on your legs and the weight will just melt off (:

    good luck!

Jogging is excellent for fat-burning, but sprinting really is best for putting your body into a catabolic state during which muscle is built and fat is broken down.
