Can stress or diet effect breast milk supply?
I have a 9 week old baby and recently she has been nursing more frequently during the evening hours. my concern is that I have too much stress to produce enough milk for her and she is not getting enough or that my diet doesn't include enough nutrients. I have a 4 yr old and 2 yr old son also which makes it hard to be stressfree. This is my first time breastfeeding since my boys never took to the breast and I am desperate to do it this time and don't want something I am doing to effect it!

yes stress will definately affect it, but more so your nutrition will and how much fluid intake you have. Your body needs calories and liquid to produce milk, it takes a lot of energy to do this. So make sure you are eating well and enough calories, drink lots of water, and try to take naps when you can, turn on a video if you can, even 30 min rest will help you!

Stress and diet can both affect milk supply. She may also be nursing more because she is going through a growth sput. Many moms worry that they don't have enough milk. If she has been gaining fine up until this point, i wouldn't worry. You can also contact dr or La Leche league in your area. I wouldn't worry though! Best of luck!

Yes, stress and diet can affect breast milk supply. However, your baby is probably just going through a growth spurt. When a baby grows she needs more milk. The best way for her to get more food is for her to nurse more frequently. That prompts your body to produce more milk. Once she is through her growth spurt and you are producing more milk for her to drink at one time she will probably revert back to her normal schedule.
It's nature at work!
