Metabolism Supplements and You

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

There are lots of health conditions that trouble people to different degrees. One of this is the ‘slow’ inefficient metabolism. Of course there are different ways to remedy this type of problem whose most visible and upsetting effect is weight gain. You can help yourself to improve your metabolism by taking vitamins or supplements which are known to boost metabolism. In this article, the focus is on metabolism supplements that are advertised as great weight loss solutions. Although they are helpful in increasing metabolism reactions, supplements alone are not effective enough to cause the desired level of calories burning therefore weight loss.

In order to see the desired effects you must combine a healthy diet and a good physical exercise plan with metabolism supplements and vitamins, and, even with medication if a specialist recommends it. There is the misconception that caffeine supplements boost your metabolism. It is also said that CLA, protein, fish oil and green tea can do the job for you. With green tea, for example, it was proved that daily energy expenditure of young people is increased by 80%; this is what we want to hear, isn’t it? Yet, let us not forget that our bodies adapt to a stimulus and not long after the desired effects cease to occur. Even if you get to lose some weight with the help of green tea supplementing your diet, still there is a downside to it: the process is slower and  most of us would want it as fast as possible.

Although there are lots of medications and miracle supplements advertised in magazines and online it would be better if you used the more natural metabolism supplements. Here we refer to certain legumes and vegetables, grains and fruit, as well as to certain types of meat (chicken, fish etc) which contain vitamins, fibers and other elements that help improve the breaking down of the foods we eat by boosting digestion.

One very popular natural supplement is a fruit called acai berry from the Amazon region. Among the other natural metabolism supplements, the acai berry is a miraculous fat burner that Brazilians have taken in and benefited from for years and years. Its effects are so good because it contains plenty of minerals and vitamins thus helping to increasing energy and speeding up metabolism. Another effect of this fruit is that it helps you feel hungry less often than before. All in all, metabolism supplements alone will do the job only partly, the fat deposits will remain unless you adjust diet and take up a physical training pattern.

Amazing Weight-Loss Tips That Will Help Drop Those Extra Pounds

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Are you looking to lose weight fast? It’s easy to say goodbye to 15 pounds of unwanted fat with these easy diet tips. Just pay attention to what you eat and be sure to have fresh, nutritious and healthy food including, fill up on fresh vegetables and keep your taste buds happy with fruit.

No need to make any huge sacrifices! Just follow these tips to help you on your way to lose some weight. These steps will give your weight loss goals a boost if they have seemed to have come to a stop. These are flexible tips that are meant to help you but by no means do these tips replace the advice of any nutritionist or weight-loss advisor.

1. Keep a note of everything that you eat and drink. If you wish you can also estimate calories. Just write down what it was that you had and the approximate quantity. You will find that being more aware of what you are eating helps you to schedule healthy meals and snacks.

2.Reduce your consumption of pure fats. This means you will be using half the amount of fat substances such as half the amount of butter on bread, half the amount of mayonnaise on your salad, and half the amount of oil of the frying pan.

3. Limit treats containing sugar to three times per week or less. This will include your chocolates, desserts, cakes, pastries, etc.

4. Make sure you pick low fat sources of protein including chicken, fish, cottage cheese and low fat yogurt.

5. Plan at least one lunch and dinner every week without meat or cheese. Build those meals around whole grains, vegetables and beans to increase fiber and reduce fat.

6. Look for lower fat alternatives to dairy products. If you switch to 2% milk instead of whole milk you can reduce the amount of fat you ingest. It is easy to choose lower fat options when it comes to cheese and yogurt. When you buy yogurt, also check that it does not contain sugar.

7. Have at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. This applies to desserts or snacks. Opt for choosing fresh fruits that are currently in season.

8. Drink water instead of sodas, juices, milky drinks or alcohol. Drinking diet soda leads to sugar cravings and should not be consumed. Cup of hot water with a 1/4 slice of lemon has been known to be extremely refreshing in the morning.

9. Include at least two servings of vegetables at lunch and dinner. If you are getting hungry, have more.

10. Eat at a slow pace. Since the body registers that it is full at a slow pace, it is easy to over eat if you eat too quickly.

11. Grated carrots make a great snack. You will find that a grated carrot is much more filling than a whole carrot. This is strange but true.

12. If possible keep up a diet rich in whole grains. Fiber can lead you to feel full and it is great for the disgestive tract.

13.Intake foods that are easy to chew. Again this will raise your fiber levels, and chewing can make you feel more satisfied as well. This means have real fruit instead of just drinking juice. If possible make sure that the soup you eat is chunky.

14. Sit down and plan your food intake. If you plan your shopping and stick to your list you will not be picking up food items that you did not intend to pick up. If you just grab something when you are feeling hungry, you will probably choose high calorie food.

15. Be sure to turn off the TV before eating. That includes eating snacks and eating meals. If you watch TV while you eat, some studies prove that we tend to over eat because we are not aware of our eating.

Dr Whiting and John Howard Discuss Supplement and Athletes

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

John Howard is one of the most famous of all cyclists in the world. He has been competing for decades and now has taken his knowledge and counsels other individuals through his company, John Howard Performance Sports. As part of his programs of cycling training John Howard recognizes the importance of supplementing the diet with vitamins & minerals as well as using protein supplements. Since bodyweight is important in cycling, key dietary supplements as well as lean protein supplements are often used. In some cases protein shakes are used as meal replacements if weight loss is desired. Supplements for cycling include all the vitamins and minerals in the proper ratio and potency. John Howard uses formulas exclusively distributed by Phoenix Nutritionals and formulated by The Institute of Nutritional Science. Cycling and all forms of triathlon training require the use of dietary supplements to keep the body performing at peek levels. The benefits of using Whey protein are many. Whey is one of the highest quality proteins and as such is absorbed easily. Whey protein is used by John Howard with all of his clients at every level of participation. Whey protein also supports the immune system as well as assists in lowering cholesterol. When interviewing John Howard, he also mentioned the importance of male cyclists to support their prostate health as they grow older. He uses the Phoenix Nutritionals formula for good prostate health called Prost Aid. Since there is a higher than average incidence of prostate problems among cyclists, John stresses the use of this prostate formula, for all his clients past age 50. John Howard personally uses the supplements from Phoenix Nutritionals and he attributes his energy and performance levels in part, to their use. When his clients study cycling at the John Howard Performance Sports centers, John always educates the students in the importance of Dietary Supplements and cycling. In fact no matter what sport you are pursuing, the use of dietary supplements and sports makes an essential partnership.
