I have appt at weight loss clinic, with a BMI of 36 will the doctor prescribe me weight loss pills?

I go in tomorrow for blood work, urinalysis, and ECG. When my results come back I go in and speak with the doctor. I already know my BMI is 36 that means highly obese. But I am no sure if he will give me weight loss pills, even though it is a weight loss clinic. What kind of of weight loss pill could I expect to get? And about how much does a prescription cost?

Are there diet supplements for perimenopausal women?

I have tried other diet programs such as South beach and I want to switch to supplements since I have to eat a normal diet with all the food groups to regain my strength.

The best prescribed supplement for your case is Estrin-D which is clinically shown to increase resting metabolic rate, boost energy levels and increase stamina in menopausal and perimenopausal women. I think this was the first diet pill that fits our condition.

No. There are usually guidelines for using them because ingredients might be dangerous in the young, growing bodies of children or adolescents so there might be a general agreement to sell to adults 18 and over. But I don't think there are actual laws stating it.

I recently got back from a missions trip working in the kitchen and gained. I'm 5'3 and weight around 126 right with my usual weight around 118. I'm not overweight or think I'm fat but most of it is in my butt and stomach. I would love to lose a few pounds and mostly tone my body with concentration in those areas. I am addicted to sugar so I need a great way to get started. It would be hard for me to wake up tomorrow with a whole new lifestyle so this is going to be a process for me and I'm willing to take my time. I'm not looking for some diet pill that won't be successful. I would love to hear from those of you who lost weight or toned and exactly how you did it. What is the main area with foods I should be avoiding, how many meals should I eat a day, is snacking okay? Are the diet books worth it, like Bob Green's Best Life Diet? What sport or exercise will tone those parts the best? What supplements should I be taking, does weight smart one a day work? Thanks!

I know how hard it can be to get back into eating good and working out so the easiest way is to do it gradually. Just one little change at a time.

You mention Bob Greene's book The Best Life Diet. This book has recently been rated the best diet book by Consumer reports and the diet is a simple, healthy and easy to follow diet and it sounds exactly like something that would work for you.

It also has you make simple changes (substitutions) for common foods you are probably already eating.

For example is you currently drink milk or yogurt products, this diet has you moving away from full fat products down to non-fat in steps. From full fat to 2%, to 1% then non-fat so that you do not notice the changes in the texture of the food.

It also has you changing from white flour breads and pasta to 100% whole grain (not mixed grains but 100% whole grain.)

If when you are shopping you are not sure if the product fits into the diet, just look on the label. There are hundreds of products (even in the snack aisle) that have the words "Best Life Diet" on them. These products comply with the diet.

The Best Life Diet is also a healthy heart diet so you don't have to worry about them being high in cholesterol, fat or laden with sugar.With the Best Life Diet you would be eating 6 smaller meals a day (3 meals and 3 snacks) by spreading it out over the entire day you won't feel hungry or deprived.

Sugar is hard to get away from so again you have to do it gradually. Try to have fresh fruit when you have the urge for something sweet and use products that have sugar substitutes like Crystal Light. There are also many ice pops and ice creams that are low in fat and sugar out on the market and unlike those of years ago these actually taste just like their full fat and sugar counter parts. Just one day take a longer trip to the grocery store and look what is available you will be amazed.

As far a vitamins and minerals get the ones that are packaged 4-6 capsules in a small tear open package and skip those that say "for weight" or lose weight" as they really don't help. By getting the capsules instead of small round pills you body will be able to absorb them better so you will get more of the nutrition from them.

You might want to start to do some brisk walking every day (about 45 minutes) to help rev your metabolism and burn some of the fat that you currently have. Between cardio and eating better you should start to see the pounds drop.

As for targeted exercises, they won't get rid of the fat int those areas (cardio & diet will) but they will strengthen and tighten giving you a firmer look.

The walking will help your legs, thighs and butt as will squats, and front and side leg lifts (25 reps, 2 sets a day). If you want to target you abs, try doing 25 reverse bicycles every day working up to 50. The bicycle will give you better results than crunches will.

If you just change a little bit every day you will be able to reach your goal without feeing tired or feel as though you are missing out on any foods.
